If you registered a domain through Google Domains, there’s been a major change you need to know about. As of late 2023, Squarespace officially took over management of all Google Domains accounts.
This transition impacts around 10 million domains—and if yours is one of them, here’s what that means for you.
What Happened?
In June 2023, Squarespace announced its plan to acquire all domain assets from Google Domains. The deal was finalized in September 2023, and the transfer has been rolling out gradually since then. As of now, all Google Domains accounts have been fully migrated to Squarespace’s domain management platform.
Squarespace has promised a smooth transition and stated it will honor existing renewal prices for at least 12 months after the switch.
How to Manage Your Domain Now

Here’s what to do next:
1. Log In
Use the same credentials you used for Google Domains. You may be prompted to authorize Squarespace if this is your first login.
2. Review Your Domain Info
Check that your DNS settings, contact details, and renewal preferences are correct.
3. Update Billing Details
To avoid disruptions, make sure your billing info is up to date. You’ll now be billed through Squarespace instead of Google.
4. Explore the New Interface
While different from Google Domains, the Squarespace interface is clean and straightforward. You’ll find the basic tools you need, though more advanced users may notice a few missing options compared to Google’s setup.
